CR 2011 - Day 5 & 6

We just had the experience of our lives

Friday we traveled 5 hours south to minister with the people of Cabagra. The trip there was just the beginning. We drove up dirt roads as far as we could in our Van, until we were met by a truck and horses to take us the rest of the way. The view itself was enough to make you want to build a house and stay forever. The people were welcoming and loving. They cooked us a great meal, and hung our hammocks for us as we prepared for service. Pastor Nik shared an incredible message that bridged the huge cultural divide. And again we were able to recognize that no matter how much difference there is between us, the one thing you can count on bridging the gap is the gospel message.

After service we settled in for the night early hoping to get a good night's sleep. Apparently we should have all taken a “how to” on sleeping in hammocks! The night was a LONG night, I think the only a few of us even got a couple of hours of sleep. And we were up with the roosters at 3:00 a.m., then 4:00 a.m. and finally rolled out of our hammocks at their 5:00 am. call.

Saturday we had the honor of ministering to their children. They literally came out of the mountains and all arrived for our Saturday morning service. We played games, sang songs, gave testimonies, illustrations and bible stories. The morning concluded with a great response by children choosing to live for God and a time of prayer with them and their parents!! What an incredible opportunity. This is a memory that will not ever be able to be replaced.
